Marlene Hilden

Marlene L. Hilden, age 78, of North Hudson, died on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at her residence. Marlene was born on May 5, 1935 to Edwin and Lillian (Henderickson) Larson in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She grew up in Cannon Falls, Minnesota and graduated from Cannon Falls High School. After graduating, Marlene attended cosmetology school. She received her license and worked as a beautician. It was while attending a dance in Beldenville, Wisconsin, that she met a young man named Wayne Hilden. The two dated and were united in marriage on May 29, 1956 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. Marlene and Wayne, with their four children, settled in North Hudson in 1963. Marlene took on the role of wife and mother until the children were grown. Later, she worked for the Hudson High School as a cafeteria worker. After 15 years of dedicated service, Marlene retired and continued being a housewife and grandmother. Wayne died in 2008 and Marlene remained in her family home surrounded by her friends and family.

Marlene was an active homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and knitting. She loved being outside, especially on her motorcycle. With her family she enjoyed going on rides around the area. At home she enjoyed relaxing with her books, computer, and her dog, Shiloh.

Marlene is survived by her; children, Linda Smith of Cannon Falls, MN, Kim Davlin of Austin, TX, Kevin of Hammond, WI and Scott of North Hudson; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Brenda) Larson of Cannon Falls, MN and many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Marlene is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Wayne.

Funeral services for Marlene will be held at 11am on Friday, May 10, 2013 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hudson. Pastor Tim Booth will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Willow River Cemetery. A visitation will be held for 1 hour prior to services at the church as well as from 4-7pm on Thursday, May 9 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, Hudson, WI. Services are in the care of the O’Connell Family Funeral Home. 715.386.3725
