Nicholas Jahnke

Nicholas D. Jahnke, age 42, of River Falls, WI, died on May 29, 2013 after a two-year struggle with brain cancer. Nick was born on October 12, 1970 in Red Wing, MN to Lowell and Jeanne (Dougherty) Jahnke. The oldest of three boys, Nick grew up in Ellsworth and graduated from Ellsworth High School with the class of 1989. In 1997 Nick met Colleen Lauber and it was love at first sight! The two were united in marriage on March 24, 2001 at St Bridget Catholic Church in River Falls, WI. The marriage was blessed with two children, Riley and Reece. Nick and his family settled in River Falls where he had worked at the Copper Kettle for several years. Most recently, he worked at H&F Home Furnishings.

Nick was known by friends and family as many things. He was a dedicated husband, father, son, brother, friend and loved nothing more than his family. His infectious smile and laughter could light up a room and he was always up for a good time. His favorite place to be was the family cabin where he enjoyed the lake, watersports, and ATV riding. Nick was also known by friends and family as a passionate sports fan. He was a proud supporter of the Twins, Badgers and most of all, the Packers. “He bled green and peed gold.”

Nick is survived by his; loving wife, Colleen; children, Riley (10) and Reece (8); parents, Lowell and Jeanne Jahnke of Ellsworth; brothers, Ben (Marcia) of Wisconsin Rapids and Abe (Jenny Foley) of Ellsworth; brother-in-law, Jim (Kelly) Lauber of Huntley, IL; sisters-in-law, Jill (Jay Herum) Lauber and Jenny (Steve) Rivard, all of River Falls, WI; nieces, Veronica, Hayden, Madalyn and Corynn; nephews, Jake, Louie and Brooks as well as many other relatives and friends.

A Funeral Mass celebrating Nick’s life will be held at 4PM on Sunday, June 2 at St Bridget Catholic Church in River Falls. Visitation will be held from 1-4PM also at the church. All are encouraged to wear their favorite sports attire in memory of Nick. Services are in the care of the O’Connell Family Funeral Home – Hudson Chapel. 715.386.3725
