Violet Hopkins

Violet Lorraine Hopkins, age 90 of Baldwin, passed away December 7, 2013 at the Baldwin Area Medical Center.  Violet was born December 9, 1922 in Hammond, WI, the daughter of Emil and Sandra (Swanson) Brathol.  She was united in marriage on June 10, 1944 at the Parsonage of Rev. F. Dahl in Baldwin to Grant Hopkins.  Their marriage was blessed with five children:  Sandra, Duane, Joanne, Richard and Ronald.  Violet worked as an egg candler for the Calvin Spindler Egg Business for many years, as well as a nursing assistant at the Baldwin Care Center for 20 years.  In her spare time, Violet enjoyed painting, crocheting and reading.  She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister, who will be dearly missed.

 Violet will remain in the hearts of her children:  Sandra (Steven) Langer of North Hudson, Duane (Corrie Gregerson) Hopkins of Baldwin, Joanne (Greg) Larson of Baldwin, Richard (Mary) Hopkins of Hammond and Ronald Hopkins of Baldwin; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Ruby Birkett of Madison; sister-in-law, Adalaide Brathal of Baldwin.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Grant; parents, Emil and Sandra; and five brothers, Elroy, Lamoine, Willard, Raymond and Howard Brathol. 

 Visitation will be held 4:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin and one hour prior to the service at church.  Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, December 13, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church of Woodville.  Violet will be interred next to her husband at Woodside Cemetery in Rush River Township.  Pallbearers assisting with the services will be: David Brathal, Dan Brathal, Dale Brathol, Mark Brathol, Steve Brathal, Andy Larson and Brad Langer.  Funeral services are entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin (715) 684-3434.
