Mildred C. Overbey

Mildred Charlotte Overbey, age 92 of Hudson, passed away peacefully December 21, 2013 at the Christian Community Home of Hudson. Mildred was born April 21, 1921 in Phillips, So. Dakota; the daughter of Oswald B. and Elmaire S. (Tharp) Onsted. She graduated from Luck High School and furthered her education in Watertown. Mildred was united in marriage on March 15, 1945 in Cedar Falls, Ia. to William Anderson Overbey. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Susan and Keith. Mildred worked as a nurse practitioner for the Frederic and Stillwater Hospitals, as well as the Burkhardt Good Samaritan Lutheran Bible School in Waterloo, Ia. She enjoyed farm life in Milltown earlier in her marriage. Outside of work, taking care of her family, and cooking, Mildred enjoyed her time camping, snowmobiling and knitting – along with fancy work.

Mildred will remain in the hearts of her children, Susan (David) Nalipinski and Keith (Mary Jo) Overbey; grandchildren: Timothy (Jessica) Nalipinski, Anthony Nalipinski, Traci (Steve) Penner, Lisa (Mike) Nolan and Michelle Overbey; 11 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Lowell Onsted of Burnsville, Mn and Arlene Patterson of St. Croix Falls, Wisc. She was preceded in death by her husband, William; parents, Oswald and Elmaire Onsted; siblings, Alvin Onsted, Francis Onsted, Glenda Onsted, Velma Cox, Beryl Johnson, Orville Onsted and Duane Onsted; sisters-in-laws, Betty Onsted and Roberta Onsted; brothers-in-law, Robert Patterson and Cleone Cox.

A Celebration of Mildred’s Life will take place 1:00 PM, Monday, January 6, 2014 at the Bible Baptist Church in North Hudson. A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place from 11:00 AM until time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given in Mildred’s name to Bible Baptist Church. Funeral services are entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson.
