Kim A. Beer

Kimberly A (Plourde) Beer, age 52, of Hudson, WI died on January 12, 2014 at Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota, from cancer related complications.  Kim was born on August 2, 1961 to Wayne  and Colleen (Ross) Plourde in St. Paul, Minnesota.  She grew up in Afton, Minnesota and graduated from Stillwater High School with the class of 1979.  In 1983, Kim met Dan Beer.  The two were united in marriage in 1985 and the union was blessed with 2 children, Charlie and Ryan.  The Beer family settled in Burkhardt, WI.  For the last 10+ years, Kim was working as an administrative assistant for the Trinity Academy in Hudson.  This job came with subtitles such as “plumber”, “nurse”, “librarian” and “lunch lady”, only to name a few.  She was eager to help where she could and students and staff alike have many fond memories of her at the school.  In July of 2013, she was diagnosed with lung cancer, which she faced head on.  She responded very well to treatment until new years, when more complications arose.  With her family gathered around her, God gave her wings and took her peacefully into his arms.

Kim was an avid crafter, with a love of people and animals.  With her friends, she enjoyed scrapbooking, creating mosaics, sewing quilts, crocheting, and taking on new projects.  She was very dedicated to the students, staff and families at Trinity Academy and was excited to share her passion for reading through the new school library.  Her family shared camping adventures, good times around the pool, and lots of special moments together.  At home, she enjoyed relaxing with a good book,  baking, and the most recent passion, taking care of her pigeons.

Kim is survived by her husband, Dan of Burkhardt, WI; sons, Charlie (Mallorie Doran) and Ryan, both of Burkhardt; father, Wayne (Rosemary) Plourde of Afton, MN; sisters, Kelly (Andy) Schultz from Stillwater, MN and Karen Tobias of Stillwater, MN; brother, Tony (Angee) Plourde of River Falls, WI; nieces and nephews, Kayla, Konner, Cole and Carson, as well as other relatives and dear friends.

Kim is preceded in death by her mother, Colleen and brother-in-law Kent Tobias.

A memorial service for Kim will be held at 2pm on Friday, January 17, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hudson.  Visitation will take place 1 hour prior to services at church as well as from 4-8pm on Thursday, January 16, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home – Hudson Chapel.  In lieu of flowers, memorials given will be donated to Trinity Academy in Kim’s memory.  715.386.3725.
