Kamen Matev

Kamen G. Matev, age 54, of North Hudson, died suddenly Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at his residence following an extended battle with heart failure.

Kamen was born on September 5, 1959 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria; the son of Georgi and Velika (Paliakova) Matev. He was raised in Bulgaria where he received schooling to become an attorney. In 1990, he would be married to the former Vesselina Baykusheva in Bulgaria. In 1991, they made America their home and would eventually reside in North Hudson ten years ago. He furthered his education at William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, MN, where he received his master’s in law. Kamen owned and operated, in partnership, Triad Title in Shoreview, Minnesota. Kamen enjoyed spending time with family, discussing politics, fishing trips to Canada and Alaska, and reading Tom Clancy novels.

Kamen will be fondly remembered by his wife Vesselina Mateva; daughters, Slavina  Mateva (Mark Winfeld) and Jennifer Matev; stepson, Nick (Jamie) Kolev; grandson, Vincent Winfeld; and sister, Maria Mateva. He is preceded in death by his parents Georgi Matev and Velika (Paliakova) Mateva.

A Gathering of Friends and Family will take place from 5-7PM on Monday, February 3, 21014 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson. A memorial service will follow at 7PM at the funeral home with Fr. John Gerritts presiding, with a reception immediately following the service. Interment will be private.
