Richard C. Clark

Richard Charles Clark, age 71 of Hudson, died peacefully February 14, 2015 at his residence.

Dick was born June 10, 1943 in Denver, Colorado to parents, Charles and Mary (Wamsley) Clark. He grew up in Westminster, Colorado with his four sisters, and graduated from Westminster High School in 1961. Dick went on to attend the University of Colorado Denver where he took several classes in architecture. Dick was united in marriage to Verna Stahly on October 20, 1963 in Fowler, Colorado. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Karin and Brett. Dick served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. He worked as an architectural designer at Dale Miller Architect in Lakewood, CO, Bloodgood Architects in Des Moines, IA, and Landsted Homes in Hudson, WI.

Dick was a well respected diving coach. He coached for the Hudson High School Girls Swim & Dive Team (2001-Current) and the Simley High School Boys Swim & Dive Team of Inver Grove Heights, MN (2006-Current). He mentored the student athletes and did what he could to make a difference in their lives. Dick enjoyed playing golf and photography; often taking countless photos of his grandchildren, beautiful flowers, and architecturally unique buildings.

Dick will remain in the hearts of his beloved wife of 51 years, Verna; daughter, Karin Kammerzell, her husband Kevin, and their children Tori and Trevor; son, Brett Clark, his wife Beth, and their children Aiden, Niah, Adley, and Raina; sisters, Virginia Mills, and Doris (Rik) Hansen; brother-in-law, Bill Carter; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Dorothy Carter, and Marilyn Parson.

Funeral Celebration of Dick’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the Bethel Lutheran Church, Highlands Campus, 504 Frontage Road, Hudson.Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, February 20 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 So. Eleventh St., Hudson; as well as one hour prior to the service at Highlands. Interment will be private. Memorials are preferred to help establish the Richard Clark Memorial Scholarship Fund.
