Gary Heinbuch

Gary Heinbuch, age 58 of Glenwood City died of an apparent heart attack while snowmobiling near Gordon south of Superior, Saturday, March 7, 2015. Gary was born on August 3, 1956 in St. Paul, Minnesota; the son of Harold and Alice (Pierre) Heinbuch.  He attended elementary school in Emerald prior to the elementary moving to Glenwood City.  Gary was a 1974 graduate of Glenwood City High School.  Gary’s love of farming came from his father.  Gary bought his dairy farm in 1978 in the township of Forest.  He continued to add on and remodel the farm changing over to crop farming 1994.     He loved custom combining and the smell of fresh plowed dirt. Driving tractors and the combine was his sanctuary. Simply setting his sights on a tree in the distance then plowing and planting the perfect row was most the rewarding.

On May 31,1974, Gary was united in marriage to Fran Kobeska in Millbank, South Dakota. This union would be further blessed with a daughter Stephanie and a son Greg. Gary was always doing something; be it driving dump truck, backhoe, inventing, or putzing around the farm. He was always up for a challenge and was the ‘Fix It Man’. From welding, carpentry work to learning how to use a smart phone and tablet.  He loved absorbing new things and taking on a new challenges. Outside of farming, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, kayaking, exploring, convertible rides and spending time at their cabin near Trego. Literally, the only time Gary wasn’t moving was when he was perched in a tube going down the Namekagon River with family and friends. Another favorite pastime was snowmobiling. Gary died of an apparent heart attack while snowmobiling with some of his some of his friends. Lastly, Gary worked hard to provide for his family whom he cherished. Nothing gave him more pleasure than being surrounded by his wife, kids, and grandchildren. He tried to put a funny spin on everything to get a chuckle out you. He was all about creating memories for his grandchildren, which he succeeded at!

Gary will forever remain in the hearts of his loving wife Fran; children Stephanie Heinbuch of Forrest, Greg (Amity) Heinbuch of Superior; grandchildren Kristine and Makayla Sina, Spencer, Reece, Kevin, and Keyla Heinbuch; mother Alice Heinbuch of New Richmond; siblings James (Joyce) Heinbuch of Ontario, Canada, Karen (Lowell) Volkert of New Richmond, Carol (Dan) Maser of Little Canada, MN; sister-in-law Terri Nygaard; of Montana; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
