Maxine Bakke

Maxine M. Bakke age 85 of Baldwin died Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at the Baldwin Area Medical Center. Maxine Marie Boldt Bakke was born on October 21st, 1929 in Wolsey, South Dakota. She was the 5th of 7 children born to Frank Boldt and Olga Ecker Boldt. In 1936 the family moved to a farm in Baldwin, Wisconsin near Pine Lake. Maxine attended Three Willow School and graduated from Baldwin High School in 1947.

Maxine worked at 3M and other various jobs before she married Howard Bakke on June 18th, 1949. It was a lawn wedding at the farm near Pine Lake. They farmed together south of Hammond Wisconsin until their retirement in 1991. Howard and Maxine had two children, Marsha and Kent, three grandchildren David, Katherine and Michael and one great-grandson Edwin. Maxine was involved in Rush River Church by being a Sunday School teacher, deacon, WELCA officer and member, as well as helping plan Rush River’s Sesquicentennial (150th) Celebration in 2005. Howard and Maxine moved to Baldwin in 1992 where Maxine enjoyed working as an aide in the schools, quilting, doing hardanger and being involved in other social activities. She enjoyed reading and was always looking for another book.

Preceding Maxine in death were her parents, husband Howard, daughter Marsha, brothers Everett, Robert, and Larry and sister Belva. Maxine is survived by her son Kent and special friend Wanda, Marsha’s 3 children David, Katherine (Scott), and Michael (Clarissa), great grandson Edwin and son-in-law Richard Bishop. Also survived by sister Arlene (Frederick), brother Glen (Doris) and many relatives and friends.

Funeral service for Maxine Bakke will be 3PM, Saturday August 15th at Rush River Lutheran Church; rural River Falls. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church Saturday afternoon. Memorials preferred to the Rush River Lutheran Church. Funeral services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin.
