Jeanne Anderson

Mary Jeanne Anderson, age 75, of Hudson, WI, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2016 at her home in Hudson, surrounded by her family.

Jeanne was born on April 12, 1941 in Staples, MN to John and Mary (Sanco) Caress. She grew up in Minnesota and graduated from Mapleton High School, the class of 1959. Following her graduation, she moved to Hudson, WI, where she worked at West Publishing, and she met her future husband. She also had various jobs in Hudson, as well as sold Avon for many years.

On April 8, 1967, she was united in marriage to William Anderson at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hudson. Their marriage would be blessed with four loving boys: Mark, Steven, Scott, and Tim.

Raising four boys was not an easy task, but Jeanne was an incredible homemaker, proudly taking care of her family. She was a fabulous cook, and had a real talent in the kitchen – canning vegetables and making her own jams and jellies. Jeanne spent hours and hours crafting, whether through making plastic canvas boxes, crocheting, knitting, quilting, or sewing. Anything and everything, she crafted. When you walked into Jeanne’s house, it was known that the Food Network was on, and that Jeanne was learning a new recipe or technique from her favorite chefs. Jeanne also had a green thumb, and thoroughly enjoyed heading to the greenhouse yearly with Bill to pick out her annuals to fill her hanging baskets outside of the house. Above everything, Jeanne exuded kindness and could talk to anyone with ease, easily remembering their name, and even their phone number.

Jeanne will be dearly missed by her husband, Bill; four sons: Mark Anderson, Steven (Sheri) Anderson, Scott Anderson, and Tim Anderson; four granddaughters: Bethany Shepherd, Stephanie Anderson, Tiffani Anderson, and Courtney Anderson; three sisters: Karlene Quale, Sally (Ted) Bauer, and Sue Dahm; sisters-in-law, Jan Caress and Sue (Jim) Riley; brother-in-law, Fred (Naomi) Anderson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jim Caress; and brothers-in-law, Larry Quale and Stan Dahm.

A visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Sunday, April 24, 2016 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson with a prayer service to conclude the evening at 7:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 25, 2016 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St., Hudson with a visitation held one hour prior to Mass at church.
