Robert “Bob” Marquardt age 86 of Hudson died September 27, 2016 at Southview Acres Health Care in West St. Paul. Bob was born on January 27, 1930 in Baraboo, Wisconsin; the son of Frank and Hazel (Zehnfenning) Marquardt. He was raised in Baraboo attending St. John’s Elementary prior to graduating from Baraboo High School. He would further his education at the University of Wisconsin –Madison; receiving a degree in Ag Science. As a young man, he enlisted in the Armed Forces where he proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Following this, he continued his schooling, obtaining his master’s degree in 1954. On July 24, 1954, he was married to Mary Walsh in Dubuque, Iowa. To this union, a son Kurt was born. Bob worked for a short time for the USDA, before embarking on a long and rewarding career with 3M. From 1961 to 1990, he worked in sales working his way to sales manager assisting in their microfilm division. Following his retirement from 3M, he served as president and owner of Contacts Influential from 1979 to 1989.

Bob was also active in the community and very civic minded. In the 1960’s, he served three terms on the Hudson City Council. He also served on the Board of Directors for the State Bank of Hudson from 1968 to 1989. Furthermore, he thoroughly enjoyed time spent with the Elks Club where he served as Exalted Ruler and as a member of the Hudson Country Club. Bob also took pleasure from a quiet day fishing, or tending to his vegetable or flower gardens, and going up to the cabin with his best friend Garnet.

Bob is survived by his loving companion Garnet; son Kurt (Hope) Marquardt; grandchildren Angela, Aaron, Laryssa, and Tonya; brother Russ Marquardt; sister LouAnn (Joe) Ward; and his nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Mary; daughter-in-law Ann Marquardt; brother Dick (Nancy) Marquardt; sister-in-law Shirley Marquardt.

Funeral service for Bob will be 11:30 Tuesday, October 4th at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home; 520 So. 11th Street in Hudson. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at O’Connell’s. Burial with full military honors will be in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials are preferred.
