Shirley ‘Squirrel’ Watson

Shirley Jean “Squirrel” Watson, age 74 of Hudson, died on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at the Comforts of Home Assisted Living in Hudson. Shirley was born January 10, 1943 in Stanley, WI to parents Henry and Signa (Sime) Lodahl. She grew up in Stanley and graduated from the Stanley-Boyd High School, class of 1961. On March 3, 1962, she was united in marriage to Wayne “Pork” Watson in Stanley. Their marriage would be blessed with five children. The couple lived a short time in Kenosha and Cornell, WI but decided to settle down and raise their family in Hudson.

Shirley was a homemaker, but devoted her life to those in her family. She adored her grandchildren, and treasured the time she spent with them. Shirley loved taking trips to the casino and playing scratch offs. She was entertained by word puzzles and watching anything on the Game Show Network. She enjoyed cooking, reading mystery novels, the occasional beer, and cheering on her beloved Green Bay Packers.

Shirley is survived by her children, Jodi (Chet) Sachsenmaier, Jill (Scott) Link, Wendy (Terry) Stedtfeld, Pam (Dan) Dubiel, Wayne Jr. (Magdalena) Watson; grandchildren, Andrew, Andy, Josh, Ryan, Kassidy, Bailey, Sam, Ben, Hilary, Taylor, Katie, Abbie, Emma, Wayne III, and Julian; great-granddaughter, Brynlie; sisters, Gloria (Bill) Schwetz and Lois (Duane) Meyer; sister-in-law Evie Lodahl. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne; brother, Ken Lodahl; and her parents.

Funeral Services for Shirley will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 11th St. Hudson, WI. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home.
