Floyd K. Johnson

Floyd Kenneth Johnson, age 87 of Dresser, WI, formerly of Hudson, passed away December 6, 2017 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN.  

Floyd was born September 9, 1930 in Bayfield, WI, to parents, Arthur and Elizabeth (Anderson) Johnson. He grew up along the south shore of Lake Superior in Cornucopia, WI and attended school nearby in the Port Wing and Herbster area. Floyd proudly served our country in the United States Navy, followed by over 30 years of service with the Naval Reserves, retiring in 1986 as a Chief Petty Officer. He was united in marriage to Catherine Varnum on July 29, 1967. Floyd worked as a mechanical engineer for the Great Northern/Burlington Northern Railroad, until his retirement in 1986.

Floyd was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed small game hunting and trout fishing. He enjoyed playing golf and watching baseball, which reminded him of playing semi-pro baseball as a younger man. Floyd was fond of reading World War II history books and learning all he could about the war. He was a member of the St. Croix Lodge #56 Free and Accepted Masons of Wisconsin.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Catherine; sons, Floyd R. Johnson, Ross M. Johnson, and Stephen “Pete” Johnson; grandchildren, Aaron, Cameron and Cassidy Johnson; other extended relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings.

A Masonic Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, followed by a gathering of family and friends until 4:00 p.m., all at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson. Masonic service coordinated by Hank Paulson. Memorial are preferred to donor’s choice.
