William “Bill” Feyereisen

William Albert Nicholas Feyereisen, age 86 of Hudson, passed away December 18, 2017 at the Christian Community Home in Hudson, Wisconsin. Bill was born April 7, 1931 in Hudson, WI to Albert James and Mayree Elizabeth (Singleton) Feyereisen. Bill was baptized at St. Patrick Catholic Church. He graduated from New Richmond High School, Class of 1949, and continued his education to become a teacher. Bill was united in marriage on June 9, 1956 at St. Mark Catholic Church in St. Paul to Marilyn Faith Huot. Their marriage was blessed with 8 children: Joan, Tom, Maureen, Lisa, Briggette, Martin, Angela, and Thea. Bill and Marilyn were blessed with 45 years together, until her passing in 2001. Bill was united in marriage to Pauline Field on January 9, 2009, sharing almost nine years together.

Bill furthered his education, and continued his graduate studies at St. Francis Seminary, University of St. Thomas, University of Minnesota, Northwestern University, University of West Virginia, Purdue University, Northern Arizona University and University of Alaska Fairbanks. He was a lifelong educator, counselor, and school administrator, spanning 55 years in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Arizona, Alaska, and Montana. He served longest in the Mounds View School District in Minnesota. One of his shorter assignments was as a mid-year fill-in school principal at St. Patrick of Hudson.

Bill was a loving husband, a guiding parent and grandparent, a teacher striving for excellence in his students, an active and giving Catholic Christian, and being involved in the communities where he resided. He had a passion for civil rights, was a councilman, school board member and national teacher union representative. Bill was a longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and member of the Knights of Columbus. He was generous with his talent and treasure and enjoyed greeting family, friends and strangers alike with a warm smile and joke.

Bill was an educator by profession and farmer by heart. In his rural style of life, he built three homes with beautiful landscaping and a plentitude of trees. He loved spending time outdoors, working and playing alongside his children and grandchildren, frequenting the DQ, and shepherding his flock of sheep. Bill also enjoyed travel and seeking new adventures with family and friends including trips across the US, Western Europe, Russia, Mexico, Bahamas, Guatemala and China.

Throughout his life, Bill modeled the words of St. Anthony Padua, “Actions speak louder than words; let your words teach and your actions speak.” He had prepared to live in a state of eternal grace, sanctified by God. May Bill’s soul have eternal rest in the communion of saints and his Creator.

Bill will remain in the hearts of his children: Joan (Mark) Homstad of Woodbury, MN; Tom (Rachael) Feyereisen of Alta, WY; Maureen (Ted) Wegleitner of Hudson, WI; Lisa (David Phillips) Feyereisen of Crow Village, AK; Briggette Feyereisen of Canada; Martin (Barb) Feyereisen of Hudson, WI; Angela (John) Flynn of Burnsville, MN; Thea Feyereisen of Hudson, WI; 24 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; his loving wife, Pauline; siblings, Aileen (Jim) Oberaigner and Monica Feyereisen; other relatives and friends.
