Paul Allen Sommers, age 72 of Hudson, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2018 at the Christian Community Home in Hudson after a short battle with cancer.

Paul was born on April 9, 1945 in Marshfield, Wisconsin, to Frank and Rosalie (Mitten) Sommers. He graduated from Marshfield High School, and earned a degree from the University of Wisconsin, LaCrosse. Paul excelled at baseball growing up and he turned down several offers that could have led him to playing professional baseball. Instead, he continued his education at the University of Southern Illinois where he received a Doctorate in Health Care Administration. Paul was united in marriage to the love of his life, Carol Newsom on June 10, 1967 in Marshfield; and the couple were blessed with two sons, Eric and Marc. Paul worked as a clinic administrator in Marshfield, La Crosse, and in St. Paul, MN.

Paul loved his family and appreciated the time he spent with them. He enjoyed every day he shared with his wife. Paul truly adored his sons and always supported them, and relished in the memory of coaching their baseball teams. He cherished his grandchildren and was delighted to watch them grow. Paul enjoyed the occasional hunting and fishing trip.

Paul will remain in the heart of his wife of 50 years, Carol; sons, Eric (Kym) and Marc (Sheila); grandchildren, Mya, Joe, Lucas, Riley, and Brenna; sister, Sally (Bob) Schrage; nephews, David and Randy (Kim) Schrage; and former daughter-in-law, Katie Sommers. He is preceded in death by his parents.
