Maryanna Root, age 85, died April 6, 2018, at the Thornton Manor Nursing Care Center in Lansing, Iowa. Maryanna was born in Butler County, Kansas, to Franklin and Frances Burger. She grew up on the family farm near Rosalia and studied to become an elementary school teacher. She married Marvin Root of Wichita, in September of 1954, and the two made their home in Roseville, Minnesota, where they raised three children.

Maryanna was preceded in death by her parents; older sister, Frances Mildred; infant brother, William; and her husband, Marvin. She is survived by her children, Maria (Barry) Stahl of New Albin, Iowa; Aaron (Vania) Root of Woodbridge, Virginia; and Laura (Vann) Cooley of Acworth, Georgia; seven grandchildren; one grandchild-in-law; one great-grandchild; and brother-in-law, Donald (Cathy) Root.

Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at the Mound Prairie Cemetery in Afton, MN. In case of inclement weather, prayers may be said at the O’Connell Funeral in Hudson, WI.

Maryanna’s family is grateful to Jesus Christ by whose grace she is saved. Maryanna leaves a legacy of faithful service and generosity in His name.
