Donald Cecil “Donnie” Boumeester, age 84 of Hudson, formerly of Amery, died Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Pine Ridge Gardens in Hudson. Don was born April 1, 1934 in New Richmond, Wisconsin, to Cecil and Esther (Strand) Boumeester. He grew up in Baldwin and graduated from Baldwin High School. On February 20, 1954, he was united in marriage to Dolores Lee at the Lutheran Church in Baldwin. This union was blessed with four children; Jeff, Susie, Scott, and Julie. Don worked as a supervisor at Erickson Oil/Freedom, retiring in 1996.

Don was a true legend. Being born on April Fools’ Day, he was destined to become a jokester. Don was always up for a round of golf or a game of cards. He enjoyed woodworking and could often be found spending time in his garage. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and was fond of his memories from visiting Lambeau Field. Don truly loved his family and cherished spending time with them.

Don will remain in the hearts of his children, Jeff of Minnetonka, Susie (Russ) Clizbe of Missoula MT, and Scott (Gayle) of Hudson; son-in-law, Glen Nelson of Roberts; grandchildren: Jason Boumeester, Jessica (Matt) Arnold, Abby (Paul) Oehmcke, Kaiti (Jesse) Rathbun, Kayla Boumeester, Brandi Boumeester, Trevor Nelson, and Collin Nelson; great grandchildren: Lauren & Kate Arnold, Suraya & Jeffery Rathbun, and Riplee Oehmcke. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores; his parents; daughter, Julie Nelson; and daughter-in-law, Deb Boumeester.

A Memorial service for Don will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 17th at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association.
