David Ellwood

David W. Ellwood, age 70 of Hudson, died unexpectedly on January 20, 2021 in a house fire at his residence. David was born on December 16, 1950 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to James and H. Irene (Wright) Ellwood. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in South Minneapolis with the class of 1968 and continued his studies at Bethel University. David was united in marriage to Jane Kroska on May 2, 1980 in Minneapolis. He worked for 14 years as a caretaker for Camp Rolling Ridges located east of Hudson, and for at least 10 years as a maintenance engineer at Wintergreen and Christian Community Home. David was well known in Hudson for his carpentry skills and his work as a handyman. He frequented many of the downtown Hudson businesses and worked the register on weekends at the Abigail Page Antique Mall. David loved spending time outdoors experiencing nature and going camping. He was an avid reader of anything that peaked his interest, and a collector of books, art and antiques.

David will remain in the hearts of his wife of 40 years, Jane; son, Senior Chief William Ellwood, U.S. Navy; grandson, Hayden Ellwood; siblings, Leora Peterson, and Donald (Christi) Ellwood; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of David’s Life including live music and appetizers will be held from 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Urban Olive & Vine, 520 2nd St., Hudson, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials and cards for the family may be sent to O’Connell Family Funeral Home: Care of David Ellwood Family, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson, WI 54016, to be forwarded on your behalf.
