Nancy had a magnetic personality and smile, and made friends with ease wherever she went. She will be missed greatly by her whole family.

A letter from her niece – “My Aunt Nancy died today.

When we were little she saved my brother Jasper’s life by diving into a river that was leading to a waterfall and pulled him out.

She survived a terrible accident that took away her ability to walk and speak, but she relearned how to do everything from sheer will power.

She was always singing and looking for fun, even after her accident. She was the life of every party, and until her last days her husband Richard took care of her and loved her. I am so grateful for Rick for the quality of life he helped provide for her.

There are no words to express the kind of person she was. You just had to know her. I only wish I had spent more time with her, to see her leading the crowds and enabling all the fun in the world! Like Nancy and Rick deciding on a whim to fly to the Virgin Islands with only a brown paper bag filled with a spare set of clothes and whatever else you might need for an adventure.

Nancy Sue Pivar I love you so much. You lit up everyone’s world and now that you’re gone I can’t help but feel like I didn’t get enough time with you. You are an inspiration. You are a survivor. You are the most beautiful person I’ve ever known.”
