Randy Forsman

Randy Mark Forsman, age 69 of Hudson, WI passed away at home with family by his side on May 10, 2021. He was born on March 30, 1952 to parents Clarence Forsman and Rose (Jaseniuk) Mead and was married to Elaine LaVenture on April 21, 1978.

Randy grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from Edison High School before enlisting in the United States Army and serving in the Vietnam War. After his service, he returned home and earned a Masters of Science Degree in Management and Psychology from Cardinal Stritch University. Randy worked in the chemical dependency field for 15 years and then worked as a Workplace Improvement Analyst for the US Postal Service for 18 years, specializing in violence in the workplace. Additionally, Randy taught chemical dependency classes for 5 years at Cardinal Stritch prior to his retirement from work. After retirement from his career, he worked at Tartan Park Golf Course as a Course Attendant and played golf for free!

He was a member of the Hudson Gun Club, Minnesota Chemical Dependence Association and participated in multiple Olympic events with the Paralyzed Vets of America. His favorite activities include hunting, fishing, golfing, running, bowling, eating out (and eating in), hand-biking, watching his grandkids’ many sporting events and reading. Randy ran 13 marathons!

In 2012, Randy experienced an accident which left him paralyzed. He lived this new chapter of his life to the fullest. With Elaine’s loving support, he overcame many obstacles and showed his friends and family that he could continue his favorite activities and learn many new ones. He touched the lives of his caregivers and fellow patients at the VA Hospital.

Randy had an outgoing personality and made friends easily. Many people call Randy their best friend. He was the kind of guy everyone could talk to and he took a genuine interest in others’ lives. He loved his family more than anything and was a proud Husband, Dad, and Papa.

Randy will remain in the hearts of his wife, Elaine; children Mai Forsman (Simon Shin), Ryan (Jessica) Forsman, and Sarah (Omar) Maklad; grandchildren Amelia Forsman, Mitchell Forsman, Zola Forsman, Rosa Maklad, Amir Maklad, and Jae Lynn Shin; sisters Wendy Peterson and Sandy Smith; aunts Evelyn Kenney and Florence (Dennis) Nelson as well as many other family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A private memorial service for Randy will be held on May 24th, 2021 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson, WI with a public visitation from 5-7PM.
