Bruce G. Bergeron, age 63 of Hudson died March 25th, 2022 at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis following a brief illness. Bruce was born on December 19, 1958; the son of James and Arlene (Britz) Bergeron. He was raised in Crystal, Minnesota before moving into a home his father built in Prior Lake, where he later attended high school. As a young man, he became an entrepreneur as he managed his own paper route, even taking over all 3 of his older brother’s routes. From there, he worked at a gas station where he met his wife and they both went on to work at a record shop. On April 7, 1979, he was united in marriage to Sherry J. Pahl at the St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Prior Lake. This union would be blessed with two children; Nicole and James. He went to work for his younger brother, Dave, who was a Domino’s Pizza franchise in 1985. He worked his way through the ranks before opening his own franchise in Hudson with his wife Sherry by his side in 1987. He was incredibly passionate about his business and would often describe himself as having pizza sauce running through his veins. In 2014, as the food industry was ever evolving, they decided to retire to spend more time with family.

Bruce loved boating as the family has great memories of pulling anchor on Hudson’s Beer Can Island or Lake Kabetogama in Voyager National Park. Not much created more pride than watching his son James progress through the Hudson Hockey Association. He looked forward to time spent watching their games and hanging with the fellow hockey families. He enjoyed their annual trip to watch the Fighting Irish with Notre Dame’s football team. As the kids grew up, many memories were made camping at various campsites. His woodworking carpentry skills were on display as he built his own teardrop camper in his garage. He was an expert Free Cell player and enjoyed finding out what his friends were up to on Facebook. His humor and keen ability to connect with others will live on in his family and friends.

If you knew Bruce, you knew he loved photography. In high school, he got his first 35mm camera. His photography skills were self-taught and therapeutic, as it brought him great joy to capture the beauty life shares with us. From migrating birds, the Hudson Hot Air Affair, national parks, or a picturesque waterway, he seized the moment forever with a timely photo. Bruce developed a passion with his unique eye that helped him take breathtaking night photos of city life with its dazzling lights and shadows. When others called it a day, Bruce was out scouring nightlife for the perfect nightscapes shot.

Bruce will live on in the hearts of his children, Nikki (Paul) Gernes, James (Joelle Handy) Bergeron; siblings Dan (Deb) Bergeron, Barry (Jeanne) Bergeron, Kurt Bergeron, Dave (Stephanie) Bergeron, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. His parents and mother of his children precede him in death.

Mass of Christian Burial for Bruce Bergeron will be 12pm noon, Wednesday, April 6th at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hudson and will be livestreamed on the Church’s facebook page. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 5th from 4 to 7pm with a prayer service to conclude at 6:45 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the funeral mass at church. Memorials are appreciated to the discretion of the family.
