Howard A. LaVenture, 97, of Houlton, WI, passed away peacefully at home on June 12, 2022, surrounded by his family.
Howard was born on June 9, 1925, in Star Prairie, WI, to Albert and Anna (Buchman) LaVenture. He attended school in Stillwater, MN, and graduated in 1943; after graduation, he went on to work for Andersen Windows as a lumber cutter, where he was well-liked and worked for 37 years. He was loyal to Andersen Windows; he was often the first person to get to work and the last one to leave. Often his co-workers had to stop him from working. He retired in 1985.
On June 24, 1950, he was united in marriage to Lenore E. Riebe at St. Charles Catholic Church in Bayport. Their union would be blessed with three children: Lori, Joni, and Joel.
Howard was a hard-working family man; he loved mowing and taking care of his lawn on his John Deere tractors; there weren’t too many times where a blade of grass was out of place. He also served many years on the Saint Joseph town board, putting up road signs and serving on the planning committee. Howard was passionate and instrumental in getting the new St Croix bridge; he was on the task committee and worked closely with MNDOT for 30+ years. He enjoyed helping his family with various projects around their homes. When he wasn’t busy, you could see him doing yardwork or cutting down trees.
He is survived by his children: Lori Patrick of Houlton, WI, and Joel (Deb) LaVenture of Hudson, WI; grandchildren: Meggan (Brandon) DuCharme of St. Croix Falls, WI, Daniel (Jenna) Patrick of Houlton, WI, Cody (Abi) Tennant of Duluth, MN; Ashley LaVenture of New Brighton, MN, Jeremy (Lauren) LaVenture of Apple Valley, MN, Stacy Sindelar of Simpsonville, SC,
Daniel Dodge of St. Paul, MN; Great-grandchildren, Nora DuCharme, Caden DuCharme, Miles DuCharme, Emmet Patrick, Owen Patrick, Aidan Sindelar, along with extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lenore LaVenture, parents, and his daughter, Joni Tennant.
A funeral service will take place at 11 am on June 23, 2022, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th Street, Hudson, WI 54022, With a visitation 1 hour before the service.
