Marianne Neuharth

Marianne Neuharth, age 87, of Hudson, WI passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 20.  She was born to Henry and Iva Young in Leola, SD on December 24, 1932.  She attended Leola High School and was valedictorian of her class.  She married Albert Neuharth and they lived in several towns in the Midwest before settling down in the St. Croix River Valley in 1965 to raise their family.  Marianne subsequently lived in Spooner, WI and Austin, TX.  Marianne worked in the Human Resources department for JC Penney in Austin until retiring in 1999.  After much badgering from her children, she returned to live in the St. Croix River Valley, a place she always considered home, until her passing.

Marianne was preceded in death by Albert, parents Henry and Iva, siblings Lorraine, Eugene, Ardith, George, and Howard.  She is survived by children Jane Neuharth (Tom Butterfield) of Groveland, FL, Chris Neuharth (Niki) of Eden Prairie, MN, and Betsi Brock (Ben) of Marine on St. Croix, MN.  She is also survived by three grandsons, Aaron (Kelly), Sam, and Andy.

Marianne was a smart, independent woman with an unfailingly positive attitude.  She will be remembered for her quick wit and the twinkle in her eye.  She was a devoted mother and friend.  She enjoyed reading, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.  She was a regular attendee of the YMCA were she exercised and socialized with a group of special friends, aka The Posse.  Marianne was blessed with good health and a sharp mind and she will be missed terribly.

A private service will be held on Saturday, October 3.  Memorials can be made to the Hudson YMCA and Hudson Food Shelf.
