Larry VanRiper

Larry Van Riper age 65 of Woodville died Monday, March 2nd 2015 at United Hospital in St. Paul following a brief illness.  Larry was born on April 9, 1949, in Plum City, Wisconsin; the son of Clifford and Evelyn (Bennett) Van Riper. He attended Waverly Country School before graduating from the Spring Valley High School.  He enlisted in the armed forces and proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.

Larry worked for Ideal Door in Baldwin for over 25 years before retiring.  Although a quiet man by nature, he enjoyed seeing good friends and family; especially his grandchildren. He was an avid Minnesota Viking and Twins fan, and also enjoyed pan fishing or deer hunting.  He has been a member of the Woodville American Legion Post #301 for many years.

Larry is survived by his children Melissa Derrickson of Eau Claire, Tina (Ken) Laemmle of Baldwin, Mike (Fiancee Melissa) Van Riper of Augusta; grandchildren Gavin, Alec, Taylor, Erynn; great grandchild Kiah; his mother Evelyn Van Riper of Woodville; sister Cindy (Scott) Gordon of Phoenix, and brother-in-law Les Larson of Woodville. He is preceded in death by his father Clifford; siblings Bill Van Riper, and Karen Larson.

A time for family and friends to gather to reflect on Larry’s life will be Saturday, March 7th from 5pm to 7pm at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin. Interment will be private. Memorials are preferred. Funeral services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home and Countryside Crematory of Baldwin.
