Laura Fritsche

Laura Emma Fritsche age 88 of Woodbury, died Thursday, April 22nd at the Woodbury Villas. Laura was born on July 5, 1932 in Stillwater, Minnesota; the daughter of William and Eleanor Wetzel. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Lucas Lutheran Church in Lake Elmo.  She was raised in Afton where she attended school. In 1961, she was united in marriage to Merrill Hill. To this union, a son Timothy was born. Sadly, Merrill would precede her in death in 1986. She would later marry Roger Fritsche in 1988. Together, they made Afton their home. He would precede her in death in 2012.

Laura worked for Smeed Manufacturing in Hastings for thirty-five years as a press operator. Laura lived at the Woodbury Senior Living – Villa. Here, she was known as “the banana bread lady”. It gave her the greatest pleasure in making banana bread for residents and staff of the villa. But the list did not stop there, as friends, family, and church members were graced with her prized treat. Laura was a shining light to those who knew her. She was a caring and loving person who always remembered family and friends with cards, food, and of course, prayers!

Laura will live on in the hearts of her. Family; son Timothy (Linda) Hill; grandchildren Ashley Hill, Timothy (Malary) Hill; great grandchildren Kayla Friday, Henry Hill, Asher Hill; step children Gene Hill, Ron (Robin) Hill, Elroy (Nancy) Fritsche, Arnie (Carole) Fritsche, Barbara Fritsche, as well as their families.  

PRIVATE Funeral service for Laura will be 2PM, Monday, April 26th at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Afton. This service will be live-streamed, click here to watch. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be in the Houlton Cemetery, St. Joseph Township, Wisconsin. Memorials preferred to the discretion of the family. Funeral services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson.
