Eleanor E. Albertson, age 94 of Hammond WI and formerly of rural Woodville WI, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 15, 2011 at the American Heritage Care Center in Hammond. Eleanor was born to Charles and Bertha (nee Cook) Albrecht of Woodville on December 2, 1916. She attended the Maple Grove School in Springfield Township. Eleanor was married to Harris Albertson on March 30, 1934. They had two children; Donald Harris Albertson of River Falls WI, and Patricia Eleanor Brathol of Star Prairie WI.

Eleanor was always there for her family, and was always a helping neighbor, doing their house cleaning, doing their laundry, sitting with them when they were sick, taking them to the doctor, babysitting and so forth. Eleanor liked to bake pies and cookies, and bring them to people. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Hersey at that time, and was a member of the Dorcas Ladies Aid there. She was also a member of the Clark’s Crossing Homemakers Club, and also Parkview Guild when it first organized. After farming for a number of years, she and Harris sold the farm and moved to Hammond. She and Harris then became members of Immanuel Lutheran Church north of Woodville, where Eleanor was a member of the Golden Wings (Women in God’s Service). Eleanor enjoyed the ladies bible study group of the Hammond and Roberts area, and the Women’s Christian Club that met at the Coachman once a month. She enjoyed the Senior Center in Hammond, and did volunteer work there for several years. She likedto make Easter baskets and bring them to people, especially the “shut-ins”. Eleanor and Harris traveled to  Atlanta GA, Michigan, up through the Mackinac Islands, Iowa, Nevada,  North and South Dakota, California, Montana, Washington DC and the Hawaiian Islands.

Eleanor is survived by her son, Donald (Pat) Albertson of River Falls WI; son-in-law, Donald Brathol of Star Prairie WI; one granddaughter; eight grandsons; ten great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Grace Albrecht of Woodville WI; and many other relatives and friends. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Harris; daughter Patricia Brathol; four sisters, Gertrude (Ben) Nelson, Margaret (Paul) Engfer, Florence (Bill) Hardman, and Rosella (August) Nightengale; three brothers Lawrence (Josephine) Albrecht, Charles (Mildred) Albrecht, and Willard Albrecht.

Funeral Services for Eleanor Albertson will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Woodville, with Pastor Wayne Hilgendorf officiating. Burial will take pace in the church cemetery, Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin WI. 715-684-3434
