Clyde Sandford Jacobson

Clyde Sandford Jacobson, age 85, passed away peacefully Monday, October 29, 2018, at Birch Haven apartments in Baldwin. Clyde was born August 3, 1932, the son of Clarence and Signa (Dahlman) Jacobson. He attended Baldwin High School and graduated with the class of 1952. On June 20, 1953, he was united in marriage to JoAnne Hilmanowske at Immanuel Lutheran church in Woodvile, WI. Their union became blessed with four children: Lee, Keith, Carol, and Dean.

Although his primary focus was running the family farm, Clyde explored a multitude of additional career opportunities and vocations throughout his life; he worked for the 3M Company in Minnesota, Andersen’s Windows, and even held custodial duties at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls. He also partnered with his wife, JoAnne, in owning and operating a pair of Dairy Queen restaurants in Baldwin and Ellsworth for 20 years and 13 years, respectively. His love for polka dancing also allowed him to work with the Polka Fest committee, where he established life-long friendships with his “Polka-friends.”

Clyde was proud to be a husband, father, and grandfather above all his life’s work; he was dedicated to being a faithful and loving husband, as well as providing life lessons, encouragement, and unwavering love for his children and eventual grandchildren.

Clyde remains in the hearts of his wife of 65 years, JoAnne; children, Lee (Betty) Jacobson, Keith (Darlene) Jacobson, Carol (David) Hauge, and Dean (Kathryn) Jacobson; 8 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 step great-grandchildren; siblings, Lorraine (Harvey) Moe, John (Joan) Jacobson, and Arnold (Beverly) Jacobson; as well as nieces, nephews, other extended family, and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Signa; 2 brothers, Harold and Allen Jacobson; and grandson, Joseph Lee Jacobson.

A Memorial Service for Clyde will be held at 11 AM on Friday, November 2, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church of Hammond, WI. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 4 – 8 PM on Thursday, November 1, 2018, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin, WI, as well as one hour prior to the service on Friday. Services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin, WI.
