Elmer Siguard Hanson, age 79 of Hudson, formerly of Spring Valley died Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. Elmer was born on June 22, 1933, in Spring Valley; the son of Selmer and Esther (Odahlen) Hanson.

While being raised in Spring Valley, he attended Locust Grove Elementary in Gilman Township. Elmer was married to Joanne Rasmussen to which his children were born. This union would later dissolve. He would later marry Delores Michels and then Laura Lee Fuller. Elmer was a devoted truck driver all of his life. He took great pride in driving every state in the Continental US for Balsam Lake Transfer where he worked 53 years! He was also a proud member of the American Legion Post in New Richmond following his service in the Korean War.

Elmer is preceded in death by his parents, wife Laura Lee; siblings Granville, Sylvia, Kenneth, Willard, and Ordean.

Elmer is survived by his children Vikki (Pat) Welch, Jerry (Sharon) Hanson, Gary (Robin) Hanson, Debra Sletten, Steve (Laura) Hanson, Tami Hanson, and his step children Clarice Yassick and Joy (Jim) Roth along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Elmer’s life will be celebrated with a memorial service from 2 – 4 pm on Friday, January 4, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson. Memories and stories will be shared at 3:30 pm with Military Honors at 4 pm to conclude the gathering. Memorials are preferred.
