Erick J. Sande

Erick J. Sande ‘Sonny, ‘ age 77 of Hudson, passed away unexpectedly May 8, 2012 at his residence.  Erick was born on March 16, 1935 in Des Moines, Iowa to Erick and Mary Sande.  He moved to Ashland, Wisconsin at an early age.  He graduated from Ondossagen High School, attended River Falls College and entered the Air Force.  Upon discharge from the service, he was employed in the Twin Cities for Retail Credit, Samaritan Hospital and American Security.  He retired in 2003.  At present, he was a part time employee of Hudson Chrysler.

On August 10, 1957, he was united in marriage to Gladys Janisch in Ellsworth, Wisconsin and lived in St. Paul until moving to Hudson in 1965.  He served for many years as an auxiliary police officer in both Hudson and Hammond. 

Erick was a member of the Hudson Elks Club and past Exalted Ruler. In past years, he and his wife enjoyed riding with the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club and traveling by car over the majority of the United States.    He also enjoyed having weekly morning breakfast with friends at the Hudson House.  He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and caring neighbor- who will be dearly missed.

Erick is survived by his wife, Gladys; one son, Larry (Terri) of Hudson; one daughter, Lori Panneck (fiancé, Don) of Eagan, MN; four grandchildren:  Trevor Sande (fiancé, Caryn) of River Falls, Rachel Sande (fiancé, Nick) of Hudson, Travis Panneck of Eagan and Lyndzie (Michael) Osteen of Okatie, South Carolina; brothers, Jim (Gina) Sande of Denver, Colorado, Jack (Sara) Sande of Hayward, Wisconsin and Ken (Kathy) Sande of Ashland; as well as many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jerry.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2012 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St., Hudson, with Fr. Gene Murphy officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held 4:00 – 7:00 PM Sunday, May 13, 2012 at O’Connell Funeral Home, 520 11th St. S, Hudson, as well as one hour prior to Mass at church on Monday.  A reception will immediately follow Mass at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Interment with military honors will take place at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery.
