Carol M. Lindquist

Carol M. Lindquist, age 68 of Hudson, died peacefully at her home the morning of July 22, 2014.

Carol Mae Lindquist was born January 18, 1946 in Muscatine, IA to parents Dale and Arlo (Schroeder) Fitzjarrell. Her father worked as a Farm Manager, causing their family to move around the midwest. Carol grew up attending Wilton Elementary School in Wilton IA, Hastings Junior High School and River Falls Junior High School. She graduated from River Falls High School in 1965, and took classes at the Eau Claire Business School to become a Certified Librarian.

Carol met the love of her life while still in High School. She was united in marriage to Gerald ”Jerry”” Lindquist on July 15, 1967 at the United Methodist Church in River Falls, WI. Together they had three beloved children, David, Randy and Jennifer. Carol worked for many years as a bookkeeper at the First National Bank of Hudson and after semi-retiring, worked for a nursing home in River Falls. Carol was a member at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church and was involved with the church quilting group. She was quite talented with a variety of crafts and she also enjoyed baking oatmeal cookies for her friends and family. Carol especially loved her grandchildren, who all called her ””Grammy,”” and also enjoyed being in her garden.

Carol had a long, hard fight with cancer. Upon receiving the news that little more could be done, her family planned a trip for her to Hawaii, a place Carol had always dreamed of going. Last May, with the wind in her hair and the warm sun on her skin, Carol was able to sit on the beach in Maui, Hawaii and smile.

Carol will remain in the hearts of her husband of 47 years, Gerald ””Jerry””; children, David (Kimberly) of Baldwin, Randy (Heidi) of Ellsworth, and Jennifer (David) Stradtman of Woodbury, MN; grandchildren, Virginia, Victoria, Jacob; Mikayla, DJ and Stella; siblings, Kay Jipp of Wilton, IA, Norma (Tony) Leifeld of Pequot Lakes, MN, Linda (Tom Martin) Fitzjarrell of Dresser, WI; sister-in-law, Barb Fitzjarrell of Spring Valley, WI; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Joshua Lindquist; brother, Paul Fitzjarrell; and brother-in-law, Mervin Jipp.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2014 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 So. Eleventh Street in Hudson.
