Bertha Fenner

Bertha M. Fenner, age 85, of Hudson, WI, passed away on July 28, 2012 surrounded by family. She was born on December 6, 1926 in Superior, WI, to Edmund and Emma (Flyps) Van Hove (natives of Belgium). Shortly after graduating from Superior High School, she married Simon Larson (native of Sweden), where they raised her son Jeffrey Ward. The couple was then blessed with their own son, Larry. The family then moved to Hudson in 1956 and purchased Dibbo’s with her sister, Martha and Martha’s husband, Dell Hector. In 1962, she married Victor J. Fenner, and the marriage was blessed with daughters, Vicki and Vanda.

Bertha’s greatest passion in life was Dibbo’s. She both enjoyed working there, as well as making sure her customers felt like family. She was known for her homestyle cooking and “world famous pies.” If anyone was hungry, they need not ask! Her hobbies were collecting antique dolls, plates, and furniture, boating, and riding in antique cars. Family was a big part of her life, and she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Bertha was a kind hearted person, always giving to others.

Bertha is survived by her children, Larry Larson, Vicki Fenner, and Vanda (Charles) McGee; grandchildren, Brian Ward, Jessica and Jenna Wilcoxson, and Ashley and Hayley McGee; and sister, Martha Hector, all of Hudson, WI; and many dear friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Richard Ward, Simon Larson, and Victor J. Fenner; and son, Jeffrey Ward.
