Dennis Lynne Benton, age 72 of Mesa, AZ and former longtime resident of Hudson died suddenly in Rockford, IL on August 2nd, 2010.

He was born the son of Leland and Evelyn (Akerson) Benton on December 22, 1937 in Minneapolis, MN. He was a graduate of Washburn High School. Dennis served in the U. S. Army and was employed as a Computer Consultant for various companies. He married Linda VandeGrift in Denver, CO. Dennis was a member of the Elks Club, FPC (a men’s breakfast group), was an elder with the church and sang in the choir. He enjoyed reading, being with friends and family, playing cards – especially Bridge, driving places, and solving crossword puzzles.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Linda; his daughters Terra, Jerri, Jacki, and Lauri; brother, Ross; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Laurilla Frich.

A memorial service for Dennis Benton will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church of Hudson. Reverend Stephanie Anthony will officiate. Memorials are preferred to the discretion of the family.
