Jane Hanson

Jane Clarice (Dibble) Hanson, beloved child of God, wife, mother, sister, aunt, and cousin, passed away after a very determined battle with ovarian cancer, on Thursday, October 21st, at the age of 80. She was at home with her family surrounded in love.

Jane was born on August 27, 1941 in Hendricks, Minnesota to parents Elsie and Clark Dibble. She grew up on her parent’s farm in Currie, Minnesota as the eldest of six children. She graduated from Tracy High School and received her nursing diploma from the University of Minnesota. Her first place of employment was Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN.

Jane was united in marriage to her sweetheart, Robert W. Hanson on September 2, 1962 and was happily married for 53 years. They had three children, whom she cherished and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with. Jane found accomplishment in raising a family and homemaking. In addition, she worked 30 plus years in various nursing positions. She farmed alongside her husband on their ‘Red Cedar River Dairy Farm’ while living in Rice Lake, WI. and accomplished her dream of owning and running a Bed and Breakfast, ‘Inn at Rocky Creek’ during her time living in Rochester, MN.

She was passionate about being outdoors; going on daily walks, had a fondness for swimming, biking and for her well known love of flowers and gardens. In retirement she studied hard and became a Master Gardner. Her artistic side was showcased by being an avid and talented quilter. Jane also enjoyed music as she loved to sing and going to choral or orchestral concerts. She formed several gourmet dinner groups as cooking and baking were some of her favorite past-times. The company of dear friends, playing board games with neighbors or drinking a cup of tea brought her enjoyment. Jane liked traveling, being involved in her community and church activities of bible study/circles. She was a woman of faith.

She is survived by her children David, Mark (Bonnie) and Anne; sisters Karen (Colin) Nyren and Marie Flaten and brothers Charles and Roger Dibble, sister-in-law Karen (Mike) Sawatzky, eight nieces’ and nephews and many cousins. Preceding her in death are her beloved husband, parents, brother, in-laws, a nephew and a brother in-law. Her ashes will be placed with Roberts at Sillerud Lutheran Church cemetery in Balaton, MN.

The funeral service will be followed by a meal – Jane absolutely loved entertaining and was an excellent gourmet cook. When dining out, she would always exclaim that while it may be good, it would have been better if she had cooked it! Please join us.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and can be sent directly to either:

We are happy that our mom has finally found Peace. The strength she exhibited throughout her life should be admired. She could be stubborn, determined, and formidable but cared deeply for others and only wanted the best for everyone. Hard-working is an understatement for her, she could not sit still. Her talents appeared to be limitless. Let us all have a passion for life and experiencing as much of it as she did!

The family would like to especially thank Lakeview Hospice for the excellent, skilled, and compassionate care they provided to Jane to help achieve her goal to stay in her home.
