Phyllis Ann (Ristuben) Kloster, age 89, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, formerly of Fargo, ND passed away peacefully on May 3, 2023 at Woodland Hill Senior Living in Hudson, WI, where she had resided for the last year. She was born on August 29, 1933 to Olaf and Olga Ristuben. She lived in Gwinner, ND until her high school years when the family moved to Moorhead, MN. Phyllis earned a degree in Home Economics from St. Olaf College and worked as a teacher before starting her family.

In August 1961 she married Thomas (Tom) Kloster and together they had two sons, Tom and John. Phyllis was a loyal supporter of St. Olaf as well as Concordia College, Moorhead, MN. She was in her element when entertaining, and was well known for her dinner parties. She especially enjoyed hosting family and friends each year during Concordia’s homecoming weekend. Tom Sr. and Phyllis traveled extensively over the years, with Greece being her favorite place to visit.

Phyllis was a member of the Fine Arts Club of Fargo, P.E.O., a philanthropic organization that celebrates the advancement of women, and C-400 at Concordia College.

She is survived by her son, Tom and his wife Monique Hall, daughter in law Deneen Hanson, grandchildren Eric, Anna (Adrian) Hanson, Jack, Caroline and Chase; great granddaughter Avery; and two new grandchildren arriving this fall, as well as nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Olga and Olaf Ristuben; husband Tom; son John and siblings Kenneth Ristuben and Beatrice (Bede) Lian. Memorials preferred to Concordia College, Moorhead, MN or the Alzheimer’s Association.

A celebration of life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 210 7th Street S, Moorhead, MN 56560, at 11am Friday, June 9th, lunch to follow. Burial at Riverside Cemetery, 2901 11 St. N, Moorhead.
