Jason Wayne King

Jason Wayne King, age 55, of Hudson, Wisconsin, died on Saturday, November 9, 2024, of natural causes while hunting near Hinckley, Minnesota.

Jason was born on February 15, 1969, in Rochester, Minnesota, the son of John and Virginia King. Jason grew up on the King family farm near Stewartville, Minnesota. He graduated from Stewartville High School and earned a degree in criminal justice from St Cloud State University.

During a 25 year career with the Minneapolis Police Department, Jason served as a MPD Third Precinct patrol officer, was a part of the MPD SWAT Team for over a decade, and was a member of the MPD Third Precinct Community Response Team. He was awarded the MPD Medal of Valor, MPD Lifesaving Award, and other department accommodations.

He was a fan of the New England Patriots, chocolates, and Basset Hound dogs. Jason fished, trapped, hunted, and relished time outdoors. He was an independent, loyal and caring soul with a witty and dry sense of humor. What Jason didn’t express in words, he showed in his actions and support of friends and family.

Jason will be greatly missed by his wife Amy Wellen, canine companion Trixie, mother Virginia King, brother Jimmie-John (Susan) King, sisters Debbie (Tom) Lofgren and Julie (Dave) Bubser, nieces and nephews, and many friends throughout the years.

A celebration of Jason’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson, Wisconsin.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to help the animals at either Coco’s Heart in Hudson or MN Basset Rescue.
