Ronald Joseph Schommer, age 63, of Prescott, WI, died Thursday, January 29, 2014 at the Kinnic Health and Rehabilitation Center, River Falls, WI.Ronald was born on August 8, 1950 in Red Wing, MN, the son of Maurice and Virginia (Fasbender) Schommer. He graduated from Prescott High School in 1968. During his life he worked at the Virginian Supper Club, on the family farm, and was a 36 year employee of Smeads Mfg. in Hastings, MN, retiring in 2012. He married Debbie Kinneman on September 26, 1992 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Ellsworth, WI.Ron was an avid Green Bay Packer, Milwaukee Brewer and Wisconsin Badger fan. He loved to fish, hunt, play cards and family reunions. Ron was a witty, friendly and caring person who had a heart of gold with a great sense of humor. Most of all he loved helping Debbie care for their granddaughter Jayden and caring for his precious dog Cocoa.He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 36 years and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Prescott, WI.He is survived by his wife Debbie. Daughter, Sheri (James) Kennedy. Granddaughters, Jayden and Sonia.Sisters and brothers: Gary (Sandy) Schommer, Audrey (Dennis) Wussler, Roger (Shirley) Schommer, Roxy (Randy) Koller, Jeannie (Scott) Marik, Mary (Pat) McNaughton, Pete (Kathy) Schommer, Mike (Shelby) Schommer, and Pat (Deb) Schommer.Parents in-law: Lloyd and Phyllis Kinneman. Brother in-law, Michael (Tracy) Kinneman. Sisters in-law, Roxanne Meier Voss and Cheryl (Daniel) Huber.He is further survived by his aunt Helen Fasbender, an uncle Harold Fasbender, and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.Preceding him in death were his parents and sister Charlene Cernohous.Hill Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Prescott, Wisconsin is serving the family.
