June V. Matteson

June Valerie Matteson, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul, MN. She was 76 years old and in the loving company of her family. She was born on June 8, 1938 to Albin and M. Corrine (Fredrickson) Anderson in Ettrick, WI. A graduate of UW-Platteville, June earned a teaching degree and enjoyed teaching English to junior high school students. She finished her career and retired from St. Bridget Catholic School.Over the years, June was active in both the community and the church. Her love of music led her to singing with the women’s singing group the Music Madame’s, and at St. Bridget Catholic Church she served as a cantor and sang with the funeral choir. She enjoyed both playing and teaching the piano and worked with students for over 20 years. A gifted artist, she filled her home with miniature oil paintings, cross stitching and embroidery work.June was an avid bridge and euchre player, and during her retirement played most days of the week. She remained busy in the American Association of University Women, the Red Hat Society, and she was always a heavy reader. She had lived in the same house for nearly fifty years and was especially blessed to have so many wonderful friends and neighbors. Her biggest joy later in life was spending time with her family and grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her two children, David E. (Joanie) Matteson and Melissa (Rick) Ollerman; grandchildren Jessica and Kaitlyn Matteson; Sabrina and Ricky Ollerman; brother Allan Anderson; and sister Christy Anderson. We will all miss her quick wit, her wry sense of humor, and her beautiful voice.Cashman-Hill Funeral Home is assisting the family.
