James Manfred Purnick

James M. Purnick, age 82, of River Falls, WI died Monday, July 13, 2015 at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN.
Jim was born in North Minneapolis on August 18, 1932 to Thomas and Florence (Nelson) Purnick. He was proud serve his country as a Marine during the Korean War, and was a survivor of the Chosin Reservoir. He was a carpenter by trade and a craftsman at wood working. He enjoyed fishing the Kinnickinnic and spent treasured time with his five grandsons.
He is survived by his daughter, Betsy (Bill) Stokes of River Falls; son, James (Shizuko) of Bayport, MN; as well as grandsons, William “BJ” (Claire), David, Shaun, Trevor, and Tyler, who made their grandfather very proud.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Louie.
A memorial service is to be held at People’s Congregational Church in Bayport, MN, 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2015. Interment will be in Hazelwood Cemetery in Bayport during a private ceremony. Military honors will be accorded James by the Marines and the American Legion Post 121 of River Falls, WI.
