Virginia Marie Madsen, age 90, of River Falls, WI, formerly of Ellsworth, WI, passed away August 1, 2015 at the River Falls Area Hospital. She was born April 28, 1925 in Rock Elm, WI to Arthur and Florence (Fitzgerald) Kelley. On November 15, 1944 Virginia was united in marriage to Vernon Madsen. Among her interests were hosting family gatherings, keeping an immaculate house, playing cards and dancing. She had a love for her family that went above and beyond. She always had time for everyone and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for her children and grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Arthur and Florence Kelley; her sisters, Irene “Fern” Gutting, Joyce Hanson and Shirley O’Neil; her husband, Vernon Madsen.
Virginia is survived by her children, Larry (Jo Ellen) Madsen of Plum City, WI, Rome Madsen of Eden Prairie, MN, Cheryl (Tim) Dougherty of River Falls, WI; grandchildren, Brian (Dawn) Madsen, Michele (Joe) Bartkey, Jessica (Josh) Erlandson, Mandy Madsen (Zach Watkins), Lindsay Dougherty, Dustin (Elishia) Dougherty, Ryan Dougherty, Tricia Alexander; 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services for Virginia will be 11:00am Thursday, 8/6/15, at Hill Funeral Home in Ellsworth, WI with visitation starting at 10:00am. Interment will be in Trimbelle Cemetery.
