David Allan Johnson, age 67, of Hammond, WI died unexpectedly at home on August 12, 2016. He was born on December 2, 1948 in River Falls, WI to Lynn and Irene (Carlson) Johnson. He graduated from River Falls High School in 1967. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. In April of 1969 he married to Susan Obermueller, they later divorced. In February of 1976 he married Joan Marsh, they also later divorced. In June of 1987 he became a longtime companion with Carol Jahr until her death in 2011.
He was employed by the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Department from July 30, 1979 to his retirement on June 4, 2005. His hobbies and interests included hunting and fishing. Family was an important part of his life and spending time with his grandchildren brought him much joy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lynn and Irene Johnson; a son, Josh Johnson; two brothers, Brad and Steve Johnson; a sister, Wendy Johnson and his longtime companion, Carol Jahr.
David is survived by his children, David (Tami) Johnson, Michael Johnson, Angela (Rick) Lathrop, Charlie (Lori) Kitchner, Kevin (Tonya) Kitchner; daughter-in-law, Renee Johnson; grandchildren, Briana Bechel, Joslynn Johnson, Jacob Johnson, Amelia Lathrop, Aaliyah “Alphabet” Lathrop, Sophia Lathrop, Brandon Kitchner, Brett Kitchner, Brandy Peterson; his siblings, Idell (Jim) Anderson, Larry (Judy) Johnson, Trudy Johnson, Julie (Gene) Kolasinski, Doug (Shellie) Johnson; sisters-in-law, Connie Johnson, Peggy Johnson; he is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
.A memorial service will be held at 6:00pm Wednesday, August 17th, at Cashman-Hill Funeral Home in River Falls, WI. Visitation will be 2:00-6:00pm on Wednesday also at the funeral home. The family is requesting that guest’s come in casual dress code, Packers, camo, Harley and bibs please.
In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to the River Falls American Legion where he was a member.
