Lois Florer

Lois Jane (Cotone) Florer passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 19, 2018 at the Kinnic Health and Rehab in River Falls. She was born May 5, 1932 in Cumberland, WI to Henry and Erla (Martinson) Cotone. She graduated from Cumberland High School in 1950 and moved to California and worked as a telephone operator. Upon return to Cumberland in 1953 she met Mel Florer where they were united in marriage on April 23, 1954.

In 1966, Lois and her family moved to River Falls. Lois was a proud homemaker for many years and later worked with the food service at UWRF for twenty-five years. Family was the center of her life. She loved being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and enjoyed spending time playing cards, games, and fixing meals for her family, as well as traveling, sewing and baking.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband Mel in 1991, her parents Henry and Erla Cotone, step-mother Mary Cotone, and brother-in-law Bob Queener.

Lois remains in the hearts of her children: Joan (Brian) Ramberg of Hammond, Steve (Maxine) Florer of Balsam Lake, Karen (Ron) Karras, Tom (Sue) Florer, and Mary Beth (Ray) Williams, all of River Falls.

Lois is also survived by her grandchildren: Jeff (Marissa) Ramberg, Emily (Trinity) Johnson, Scott (Mindy) Ramberg, Jennifer Ruege, Sarah (Jeremy) Lawrenz, Rick Lettow, Jason Cooper, Matt (Lisa) Murphy, Olivia Florer, Sophie (Joe) Galloway, Sam Florer, Hannah Florer, Justin Karras, Jenna Karras (Randy Soukup), Kaitlyn (Craig) VanPay, Travis Florer, Garrett (Emily Knapp) Williams, and Melanie Williams; and twenty great-grandchildren: Arianna, Caden, Carson, Teigen, Adeline, Maeve, Lily, Michael, Alison, Matthew, Rachel, Abagayle, Evelyn, Lucy, Zach, Morgan, Sage, Hazel, Russell, and Paige.

She leaves behind her sisters, Rita Queener, Judy (Valmer) Barrows, Ann (Bob) Grignon and Cathy (Don) Gunderson, nieces and special people in her life, Monica (Leo) Lettow, Destiny and A.J. McKeown, and Becca (Adam) Pelton.

Funeral Services for Lois Florer will be held at 12:30 pm on Thursday, November 29th, at Ezekiel Lutheran Church, 202 S. Second Street in River Falls. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 11:00am. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the discretion of the family.
