Scott Johnson

Scott Allen Johnson of Prescott, Wisconsin passed to the protection of God on Friday, May 3, 2019.

Scott, known to many as “Scooter”, was born October 16, 1963 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Verdel “Tag” Johnson and SuzAnne “Sue” (Johnson) Sockness.

Scott received his degree in Packaging Machinery Service at WITI – New Richmond. The majority of his work life was spent at Thiele Engineering, Philips Plastics and Marathon Oil, where he always seemed to form lifelong friendships. Dedicated to impeccable job performance, he did it right and did it well.

There are those of us who would say he had a talent in all things. He was never prideful or boastful, and would freely admit to the knowledge and skills he didn’t possess. However, of the vast talents that seemed to come so easily, he freely and joyfully shared. He made a difference in the lives of many. Always quick with a hug and that big dimpled, blue-eyed smile, he exuded genuine warmth and kindness. His irreproachable style of storytelling, quick wit and humor were a gift to those who knew him. You just knew this is a guy who is truly LIVING his life – and you wanted to be a part of it.

Scott’s great love is Deneen Strait, his Sweetheart of 28 years. They shared a deep love, immense joy and laughter, and worked together to make the best of all life offered.

Scott’s truest passions were in the woods and on the water – this was his playground. In these places he found a second home. And, he invited everyone to it.

Scott is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Dorothy & Vincent Reck; paternal grandparents Paul and Marion Johnson; uncle, Roger Johnson; uncle, Bob Sesvold; and stepfather, Terry Sockness;

Scott is survived by the love of his life, Deneen Strait; father, Tag (Lynda) Johnson; mother, Sue (Johnson) Sockness (Ronald Hurlburt); brother, Troy Johnson (Jessica Pechuman Meyers); sister, Wendy Johnson (Gerald Helget); nieces, Taylor Lacey, Kayley Helget; uncle Ronald and aunt Lois Johnson; aunt Judy Koxlien; uncle Michael Koxlien; aunt Martha Sesvold; Deneen’s immediate family members: mother, Earleen Strait; father, Richard Strait; sister, Denise Strait; sister, Doreen (Doug) Gustafson; niece, Carly Gustafson; nephews, Dylan Strait and Mason Gustafson; as well as many cousins and other relatives and many, many great friends.
