Diane Marie Thompson, age 76 of River Falls, WI, passed away peacefully at her home June 14, 2019 after a brief battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving husband, son, and daughter. Diane was born April 23, 1943 in St. Paul, MN, the daughter of Alfred and Verona (Donath) Warnick. She attended St. Paul Park High School, with the Class of 1960. Diane was united in marriage to Michael Bernard Thompson on January 16, 1961 in Decorah, Iowa. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Brenda and Kevin. Diane was a devoted wife, and wonderful mother, always making her family the focal point in her life.
She graciously provided a loving home and unconditional love for her family.

Diane and Michael were fortunate to share 58 years of marriage, and many sweet memories. They enjoyed traveling, with Europe, South America, Hawaii, and dozens of cruises being some of their favorite vacation destinations. Diane and Michael loved being on the water, and treasured their time boating on the St. Croix. Diane had a love of nature, flowers, and birds. She delighted in maintaining a beautiful home and garden, cooking and baking.

Diane will remain in the hearts of her husband, Michael; her pride and joy, her children, Brenda (Bob) Herubin and Kevin (Ronda Schmidt-Olson) Thompson; cousin, Gary Donath, who was like a brother to her; as well as other relatives, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A private family service will be held. Interment will take place at Mann Valley Cemetery in River Falls. Memorials are preferred to the Cancer Center of Western Wisconsin, and can be directed to the funeral home.
