Eddy Ray Wuorenma

Eddy Ray Wuorenma, age 62 of Prescott, WI, gently passed away June 24, 2019 surrounded by his family and dearest friend, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN. Eddy was born February 7, 1957 in Rice Lake, WI, to Henry and Gwendolyn (Kruse) Wuorenma. He graduated from Park High School in Cottage Grove, with the Class of 1975. Eddy proudly served his country in the United States Army. In 1991, Eddy was united in marriage to the love of his life, Janet Kathryn Ruhr. Their lives were blessed with three children, Jennifer, Shannen, and Blake. Eddy worked as a Postmaster for various post offices throughout his life.

Eddy enjoyed his time on the golf course, and treasured his time with his golf buddies. He served as an Alderman with the Prescott City Council for many years. Eddy was also a member of the Optimist Society, and loved being a part of the HSC Crossfit family. His family was his reason for being. He was an incredible father, who was compassionate in supporting his children in anything they strived for. He delighted in coaching his kids through various sporting activities, always being a great role model for his children, and their teammates. He was happy, gentle, and steadfast in his ways, with a sense of humor that was sure to leave a smile behind. Eddy was thoughtful and gracious, putting sincere thought into his kindness and gifts for others. He cherished his time with his wife, children, and grandchildren, and taught his family to spend their energy on the things that truly matter in this life. He completely adored his grandchildren, and would do anything to spoil them, and make their sweet hearts happy. Eddy’s family was blessed with beautiful memories of vacations they shared together, with some of their favorite destinations being Hawaii, Paris, Greece, Puerto Rico, Australia, and Disneyland. Eddy’s kind and gentle spirit will live on, and serve as a legacy in the hearts of those he loved so dearly.

We will remember Eddy this way: He always spoke with one hand on the listener’s heart to gauge the pulse of their needs, while using only words that would soothe and uplift them. He wished for the happiness of those around him to stand in higher priority to his, because true happiness for him was to see those who he loved be joyful. He taught us what it means to be a noble father, husband, son, brother, grandfather and friend all at once.

Eddy will remain in the hearts of his loving wife, Jan; children, Jennifer (Rob) Johnson, Shannen (Nick) Holz, and Blake (Nava) Ghalili-Wuorenma; his precious grandchildren, Taten and Tevin Johnson, Clara Holz, and Solace Ghalili-Wuorenma; his brother, Randy (Jackie) Wuorenma; sister, Deb (Ed) Boughton; many nieces and nephews; many friends and his beloved dog, Cinderella. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Gwendolyn Wuorenma; and grandparents, Bernita and Edward Kruse, and William and Olga Wuorenma.

Eddy’s gentle heart never wanted to be the center of attention. With that in mind, private funeral services will take place honoring Eddy’s life. Interment with military honors will be held at the Cottage Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers assisting with the services will be: Blake Wuorenma, Michael Langer, Randy Wuorenma, Ed Boughton, Rob Johnson and Mike Kruse. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Tate, Tevin, Solace and Clara. Later this summer, Eddy’s life will be honored with a joyful Celebration of Life event where everyone who loved him can come together to remember him, laugh and send him love.
