Dennis M. Meier, age 72 of Ellsworth WI, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 with his loved ones by his side. Dennis was born February 19, 1947 in River Falls WI to parents Harvey and Geraldine (Hovde) Meier. Dennis graduated from Prescott High School with the Class of 1965, and went on to serve his country in the Army National Guard. Dennis was united in marriage to Mary Barnes on June 22, 1968 at the Christ Episcopal Church in Red Wing MN. Their union in marriage would be blessed with a daughter, Chris, and 51 years of love and devotion.

Dennis worked as a Crane Operator for over 30 years with Adolfson & Peterson Construction and was a member of the Local 49 Operating Engineers, and the Prescott American Legion Post 61. Outside of work, Dennis enjoyed deer hunting. Above all though, Dennis had an affinity for old cars, especially 1930’s era Fords. Through the years, he has rebuilt and restored numerous classic cars and participated in countless car shows. Dennis still maintained a 1937 Ford, his very first car that he bought as a teenager. In recent years, Dennis cherished time spent with his grandson Tye, whom he called “Buck”, as he had begun to share his wealth of knowledge and love of cars with. Dennis will be missed by all who knew and loved him well.

Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Mary; his daughter, Chris (Troy) Kusilek; his grandson, Tye; his brother, Mike (Jane) Meier; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Scott; and his sister, Pamela.

A Memorial Service honoring the life of Dennis Meier will be held at 4:00pm on FRIDAY, JULY 12th at the O’Connell-Benedict Family Funeral Home, 130 N Grant Street in Ellsworth WI.
