Deborah “Debbie” Powers

Deborah Jean “Debbie” Powers, age 65 of Somerset, WI, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2020, surrounded by her loved ones. Deborah was born September 19, 1954 in Hudson, WI, to Bernard and Mary (Gorski) Gutting. She went to Ellsworth High School, with the Class of 1972. On September 29, 1972, Debbie was united in marriage to Bruce Powers at the Hartland Methodist Church. Their lives were blessed with five children, Robert, Stephanie, Katherine, Candace, and Daniel.

Debbie worked hard as a farm wife, and lovingly raised her family. She had a green thumb and took pride in tending to her vegetable gardens and house plants. She enjoyed crafting, cooking and baking for her family and was especially known for her homemade cinnamon rolls. Debbie delighted in listening to Elvis, The Oak Ridge boys, and The Statler brothers, as music was very important to her. She enjoyed scratch off tickets and trying her luck at the casino. She was a devoted Green Bay Packer fan, who loved cheering on her team, but never actually watched them play because she feared she would jinx the chance at them winning. She was always up for watching a good horror movie, she loved the thrill from watching them, especially Alfred Hitchcock and the Twilight Zone. Debbie had a way of bringing smiles to those around her with her caring heart and outlandish jokes. She had a knack for remembering everyone’s birthday and would always try her best to give a personalized gift and that gift would be remembered from anyone else’s. During her younger years with the grandkids she enjoyed playing videogames with them, her favorites were Pac Man, Bubble Bobble and Super Mario Brothers. Debbie cared so much for her family and enjoyed spending time with them, whenever there was a family get together she was sure to be the life of the party.
