Harold Coulson

Harold Clarence Coulson, age 94 of Ellsworth, WI, passed away September 8, 2020 at the Kinnic Health & Rehab in River Falls.  Harold was born September 22, 1925 in Salem Township, WI to Clarence and Mabel (Sand) Coulson.  Harold grew up on a dairy farm in Pierce County, where he attended Ellsworth grade school and Ellsworth High School.  In 1943, Harold enlisted into the United States Air Force and was a radio man on a B24 bomber.  He proudly served our country for 2 ½ years.  In 1948, he bought a milk route and hauled milk for 21 years.  On July 7, 1949, Harold was united in marriage to Doris May Hauschildt.  They lived in the Village of Ellsworth for 19 years and then moved to a farm just outside of Ellsworth.  Their marriage was blessed with 5 children and 71 years of memories. In 1970, Harold began working for DEM as a truck driver.

An outdoorsman, Harold enjoyed being in the woods hunting and on the lake fishing.  Harold and Doris were fortunate to share many wonderful travels together, visiting all 50 states and several foreign countries.  He especially delighted in travel destinations that brought him to the mountains.

A man of strong faith and values, Harold set a beautiful example to his children always finding time to read God’s word.   He was a longtime, faithful and devoted member and Elder of First Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth.

Harold was an active participant in the Ellsworth community as a member of the American Legion and Masonic Lodge. He also served on the Ellsworth Village Board and was a longtime Volunteer Firefighter with the Ellsworth Fire Department.

Harold will remain in the hearts of his loving wife, Doris; his 5 children:  Steve (Lori) Coulson, Trudy (Jim) Jarosek, Kenton (Sheri) Coulson, Lynn (Chuck) Fischer and Perry (Pam) Coulson; 13 grandchildren:  Justin (Tess) Coulson, Brady (Miranda) Coulson, Tanner (Jordan) Coulson, Ehren (Stephanie) Jarosek, Jordan Jarosek, Leah (Wade) Gunderson, Derek (Kimi) Coulson, Breanna Coulson, Travis Coulson, Christopher Fischer, Corey (Diana) Fischer, Casey (Julia) Coulson and Eli (Cassie) Coulson; and 17 beloved great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mabel Coulson; brother, Kenneth Coulson; and sister, JoAnn Dreistadt.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place from 9:30 a.m.  – 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at the First Presbyterian Church, 509 W. Main St., Ellsworth.  A private family service will follow with Reverend Amy Kosari officiating.  Interment with military honors by the Kinne-Engelhart American Legion Post #204 will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ellsworth.

In Harold’s memory, memorials are preferred to The Gideons International, Samaritan’s Purse and The Wisconsin Parkinson’s Association.
