Derwin A. “Dirk” Robey, age 76 of River Falls, WI, died on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, the result of an automobile accident. Dirk was born April 7, 1944 in River Falls, WI, to parents Ernest and Mildred (Dopkins) Robey. Dirk attended school in River Falls, and graduated from River Falls High School with the Class of 1962. Dirk was united in marriage to Leslie Gelo on October 28, 1989.

Through the years, Dirk worked as a custodian at UWRF, retiring from there in 2000. A farmer at heart, he loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing, mushroom hunting, and tending to a large garden, where he was known for growing a large crop of tomatoes each year, and selling them at his roadside stand. Dirk was a wonderful husband and father, who had a soft spot in his heart as an animal lover. For years he enjoyed Billiards League with friends, and cabin life up north. Dirk led an exciting and fulfilled life, and will be missed by many.

Dirk is survived by his wife, Leslie; his children, Angie (Mark) Strickland, Dan (Sherri) Robey, Clint Clay, and Eric (Michelle) Clay; grandchildren, Chase, Kendra, Piper, Dustin (Monica), and Dylan; sister, Connie (Dennis) Mausolf; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Dirk was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donovan (Marian), and Howard (Jeannie); and a son, Jonathon Clay.

To celebrate the life of Dirk Robey, a public visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00pm on Monday, March 15, 2021 at the O’Connell-Benedict Funeral Home, 225 S. 3rd Street in River Falls. Masks and social distancing are encouraged. Memorials are preferred to the discretion of the family.
