Tayler Garza

Tayler Nicole Garza, age 22 of Prescott, WI, passed away tragically as a result of an automobile accident on April 4, 2021.  A beautiful and beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, girlfriend, niece, cousin and friend. Tayler was born October 10, 1998 in Maplewood, MN to Brandon and Kristen (Barstow) Garza.  She graduated from Prescott High School, with the Class of 2017.  After high school, Tayler attended the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point for a year.  She was currently attending Chippewa Valley Technical College pursing a degree in nursing.  Always a hard worker, Tayler worked as the Team Lead at the Woodbury Target.  She also worked as a bartender at Vino in the Valley, relishing in the friendships of her Vino family.  She had also worked as a certified nursing assistant at the Kinnic Health and Rehab in River Falls.

Tayler loved all animals, especially horses and participated in horse camps throughout her childhood.  She was active in band, playing the trumpet in middle school and high school.  Tayler had a gracious heart for others.   One of the places Tayler loved to visit was Lac du Flambeau Indian Reservation and recreated Ojibwe village named “Waswagoning”. There Tayler learned about Ojibwe history, culture, and ways of living. With that opportunity, she made many close friends, and the experience resonated very deeply with her.

Most important to Tayler was her family and friends.  Her heart was happiest when she was with her family, hanging out with her friends, and spending time with the love of her life, Dalton Ford.  Together Tayler and Dalton shared in camping, hiking, car club and traveling adventures.  They also were “foodies” and loved cooking and trying new restaurants and different foods together.

Tayler will forever remain in the hearts of her parents, Brandon and Kristen Garza; siblings, Jake, Brody and Presley Garza; grandfather, Jesse Garza Sr.; grandmother, Linda (Jeff) Garza Kehren; uncles, Rick (Tenille) Barstow and Jesse Jr. (Kate) Garza; aunt, Lisa (Rob) O’Neill; along with many cousins and countless friends.

Tayler passed away along with her boyfriend, Dalton Ford; and was preceded in death by her grandparents, Frederick Sr. and Sandra Barstow.

A Visitation for Tayler and Dalton (masks and social distancing required) will take place 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM Sunday, April 11, 2021 at the Prescott High School, 1010 Dexter St.  A Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 PM Sunday at the High School, with Pastor Steve Meyer officiating.  A reception will immediately follow at the Old Ptacek’s Event Center in Prescott.  In honoring Tayler, memorials may be directed to the Prescott High School – Lac du Flambeau Scholarship.
