Theodore “Ted” Chan

Theodore A. Chan, age 67 of Prescott, WI, died unexpectedly on June 16, 2021. Ted was born October 13, 1953 in Passaic, NJ, to parents Adam J. and Josephine T. (Bednarz) Chan. He graduated from Passaic High School with the Class of 1971 and chose to further his education by studying Ecology at Northland College in Ashland, WI.

Ted worked as a bartender for many years – most recently at The Pilot House in Prescott. He loved the job, but it was his love for life, his good nature, and his gift for connecting with people that made him great at it. Ted loved fun and was the kind of guy who would do anything for anyone. An accomplished accordion player, who enjoyed stickball and fishing in his youth,  Ted always cheered for the Minnesota Vikings, and was somewhat tolerant when the teams of his family and friends were doing good as well. Ted loved being an uncle, but took no pleasure in the title, complaining that he simply wanted to be Ted, and it is that guy who will be missed by so many.

Ted is survived by  his sister, Beverly Cholewczynski; his nieces, Cara (Adam) Joslin, and Jessi Cholewczynski; former spouse, Jass Chan; his brother-in-law, Henry Cholewczynski; longtime girlfriend, Becky Boatman; many loving cousins, and a multitude of good friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and a beloved cat, Pumpkin.

Ted’s life will be celebrated at 11:00a.m. on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at the No Name Saloon, 114 Broad Street N in Prescott, WI 54021. Memorials honoring Ted may be given to the discretion of his family. Assistance provided to the family by the O’Connell-Benedict Funeral Home of Prescott, WI. 715-262-5404
